Research Profile: Modeling, Optimization and Control of Batch Processes by Use of Tendency Models; Nonlinear Model Predictive Control and Identification; Statistical Process and Controller Monitoring; Interaction of Design and Control.
My research is ultimately aimed at better understanding cellular metabolism and its role in shaping biological function. Current research activities in my laboratory fall into the following thrust areas: models to understand and simulate metabolic reaction networks; methods to detect, identify, and quantify small molecule metabolites in complex biological samples; identification of enzyme targets for metabolic disease therapy; and engineering pathways for biosynthesis of complex biomolecules.
